How to Choose the Right Frames For You!

Are you following the motto of “New Year, New You” as we start 2016? Are you looking for a new look? Or maybe you are simply overdue for some new frames. New glasses are a great way to freshen up your look, but with so many options out there it can be tricky to choose the best frames for your face. To help you out, we’ve put together a few tips to make your search a little easier! The most important factor when choosing new frames is to consider the shape of your face.

Round - Choose angular and narrow frames that are more rectangular in shape to help lengthen the face. A clear bridge will help widen the eyes.

Oval - Try frames that are as wide, or wider than, the broadest part of the face. These will help keep the natural balance of your face.

Oblong/Rectangular – Frames that have more depth than width will help the oblong face appear shorter and more balanced. Decorative temples can add width to the face, and a low bridge can shorten a long nose.

Diamond - The trick with the diamond shape face is to highlight the eyes and soften the cheekbone. To do this, try frames with distinctive brow lines, rimless frames, or oval and cat-eye shapes.

Square - Narrow frames, with more width than depth, will help soften the angles of a square face.

The next important factor to choosing the right frames for you would be your skin tone. Everyone has either warm or cool tone to their skin. A cool complexion has blue or pink undertones, while a warm complexion has more yellow or gold. You’ll want to choose a frame color that is going to enhance your natural tone. For cool coloring, you may want to go with black, silver, blue, magenta, plum, or tortoise. Khaki, red, gold, copper, or a lighter “blonde” tortoise, would all pair well with a warm skin tone.
